Costa Calma is the perfect holiday location for windsurf lovers. Especially the Sotavento beach is popular with windsurfers. Even if you don’t surf you will love it as well. It is a beautiful beach with a nice lagoon.

Costa Calma means calm coast and this is indeed one of the quieter touristic places of the island.  

accomodation costs

A studio or apartment facilities for two persons with cooking, costs somewhere between 300 and 450 euros a week in august.
The hotels in Costa Calma are a little bit more expensive and start around the 500 euros a week for a two-person room during high season.
A two-bedroom bungalow for 4 persons (perfect for a family holiday) costs somewhere between 400 and 600 euros a week in august. There are also some adults only hotels.

Things to do in Costa Calma

Beside the beautiful beach Costa Calma has more to offer, such like shopping centres and restaurants. There is El Palmeral shopping centre. In this shopping centre you find a lot of souvenir shops and some small shops with clothes, sunglasses or electronics. You can also buy some products made with Aloe Vera from Fuerteventura here. There is a restaurant where you can have a drink and a snack.

There is also a small centre where you’ll find some popular shops, a supermarket and restaurants.

Every Sunday there is an African market here you can find cheap counterfeit bags and sunglasses.

There are lots of good restaurants, typical Spanish restaurants with dishes from the Canary Islands, pizzeria’s, tapas bars, fish restaurants and some German restaurants.

Costa Calma is also a perfect place to stay during the windsurfing world championship (17th July till 1 august 2020) in 2020 this will be the 35th year in a row that this championship takes place on Fuerteventura.

From the airport of Fuerteventura to Costa Calma will take you somewhere about an hour by car. The capital of Fuerteventura, Puerto del Rosario and the cultural centre of the island, Betancuria are also on an hour ride. To drive to Corralejo in the north of the island will take you one and a half hour.
